Wenjiashi Site of Military Gathering of the Autumn Harvest Uprising was once named Wenhua School which was established in Daoguang 21st year (1841) and was renamed Liren School in 1912.
The Autumn Harvest Uprising broke out in Hunan-Jiangxi border region on September 9, 1927. The uprising was thwarted because of the big gap between the enemy and us. The front committee secretary Comrade Mao Zedong made a prompt decision to command the troops to gather in Wenjiashi. The extended front committee meeting was held on the evening of the day. Comrade Mao Zedong brilliantly analyzed the situation at that time and put forward the idea to give up the plan to attack Changsha City and march into the countryside. The wise decision to change the original plan was made at the meeting after a fierce debate.
